Welcome to Giffard Drive Surgery Website

We pride ourselves on giving a caring service to our patients whatever their age, culture or creed.

stethoscope1The Partnership consists of six experienced doctors who offer child health surveillance, maternity services, contraception and family planning and minor surgery. They are currently supported by three further doctors, including a GP registrar; three practice nurses; two Health Care Assistants; two phlebotomists; a practice manager; an office manager; a team of dedicated receptionists and an attached staff of health visitors, district nurses; midwives and a Carers' Support Worker, as well as two physiotherapists and an orthopaedic practitioner. The Surgery also has access to a dietitian, psychologist, counsellor and community psychiatric nurses.

Under the new contract you will be registered with the Practice but the Partners will continue to run a personal list which means you will normally see the same doctor. This, we believe, gives better continuity of care.

You can find out information about medical conditions and diseases through our patient information leaflets as well as keep up to date with all the latest practice news and developments.

We are always looking to improve our services so please let us know what you think using the feedback form on our contact page.  We hope that with your help and co-operation we will be able to make this website an effective place for all your online needs.

The Practice also benefits from an active Patient Group which is involved in fund-raising in order to assist in the purchase of equipment for the surgery as well as meeting regularly with the Partners and other staff in order to represent the patients in discussions over evolving systems and procedures affecting the NHS in general and Giffard Drive Surgery in particular, including through representation on the Area Patients Group which covers North East Hampshire and Farnham.  Please go to our Patient Group page for more information.

Public Consultation about Building Plans at Giffard Drive Surgery

Giffard Drive Surgery has been looking to expand its premises for more than 15 years and will be applying for Planning Permission to do so in the near future. As you may be aware, the current size of the surgery gives us around half the floor area that a practice with a similar number of patients should have.

The Surgery did have plans for a similar scheme involving extending the surgery building across the site of No. 70 Giffard Drive. This Scheme had full planning permission in 2004, which lapsed because of changes in NHS funding policies.

This Scheme is fully supported by the North East Hampshire and Farnham Clinical Commissioning Group (NEHFCCG) and NHS England. It should give the surgery 7 more consulting rooms and an improved waiting area for the benefit of the local community.

In order to show public support for this scheme, we need to hold a public consultation and would be very grateful if you could submit your comments on our proposed scheme by Saturday 24 February 2018.

You will be able to view and comment on the proposed changes by clicking on the links below and we are also going to hold an Open Day when you will be able to see the plans and discuss the proposals with representatives of the Practice, the Patients Group and the Architects. This Public Open Day is planned for Saturday 17 February 2018 between 09:30 – 13:00 at Giffard Drive Surgery, 68 Giffard Drive. We are inviting you to submit written comments at that Open Day, or separately if you wish. The last date for receipt of written comments will be Saturday 24 February 2018.

We will be displaying full details of the proposal at the Surgery between the 17 and 24 February 2018.

We look forward to welcoming you on the day.

Receptionists Asking Questions When You Call to Make an Appointment

Your GP has instructed the Receptionist to ask you a number of questions when you request an appointment.  We are developing a multi-skilled team to work alongside our existing team of Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants which includes two Primary Care Practitioners (Paramedic trained) and a Musculoskeletal Practitioner.

The Receptionist will use the information you provide to safely direct you to the most appropriate clinician.  Please be assured that all of our staff are bound by the same confidentiality policy as the Doctor.
