Giffard Drive Surgery wants to extend a warm welcome to the following new members of staff who have joined the surgery over the last couple of months – David Hitchman (new Practice Manager), Alice Copeland (Advanced Nurse Practitioner), Ming (Receptionist), Wahib Saeed (Pharmacist), Sarah Price (Paramedic Practitioner) and Hannah Ridler (Administration). Welcome to the GDS family!
We also want to give huge congratulations to Dr Catherine Wilson who recently got married. The photos showed it was a wonderful day and we hope that married life brings you everything you both wish for!
A supplier to the NHS has advised us of a global shortage of some equipment used for taking blood tests.
Anyone who needs a test for urgent health problems will still get one but where your clinician recommends that it’s safe to do so you may be asked to come back for a test at a later date, or your appointment may be rescheduled. Given the nature of the shortage, we cannot give an exact date for when the test will be rescheduled, but please be assured that if your condition or symptoms require it, then you will get a test, and we will be re-booking your test when supplies become more easily available.
The Partners and staff at Giffard Drive Surgery aim to provide the best primary care to our patients.
Since the start of the pandemic, we have increased the number of GPs and other clinicians working with us to expand what we can offer our patients and to meet the increasing demand for our services.
In the last year, we have employed 3 new GPs, a Paramedic Practitioner, a Clinical Pharmacist, a Pharmacy Technician and Musculoskeletal Practitioners all offering clinical care to our patients, and we are all working at full capacity. This increase has delivered 29 additional clinical sessions per week compared to before the pandemic. Some of our sessions are carried out remotely by clinicians in order for us to provide more sessions due to lack of space within the building or health reasons.
We have invested in a more modern telephone system to allow additional lines in and out of the Practice to accommodate the 300+ calls we receive on a daily basis, which our Reception and Administration Team adhere to answer as quickly and efficiently as possible.
In addition to this, alongside our neighbouring practices, our clinical and administrative staff have spent many hours planning and staffing the Southwood Covid Vaccination Centre to deliver the 1000s of vaccines to the patients of Farnborough.
We have never closed or stopped seeing patients during the pandemic. We have and will continue to see our patients face to face where there is a clinical need, and this will be assessed by a clinician following a telephone conversation or by evaluating an e-consult/email.
Our aim is to continue to deliver safe and effective care to our 9000+ patients.
